On your device

Your daily progress, streak, best scores, a random device id and the nickname you type for a challenge are stored in your browser’s local storage. Clearing site data removes all of it; your local progress is not synced back from our server, so it cannot be recovered afterwards. Feedback drafts are kept in this tab’s session storage until you submit them or close the tab.

Challenges and daily standings

When you create a challenge, the site stores the selected pairs, your round scores, the nickname you entered, the random device id and your IP address; the IP address is used only to limit how many challenges one connection can create. When you play a challenge, your round scores, nickname and device id are added to it, so the board can show who beat whom. Boards are public to anyone with the link and stop being accessible thirty days after creation; the underlying records are not deleted on a schedule. When you finish a daily puzzle, your total is stored with the device id so the site can say how you did against everyone else. The device id is a random string; it is not tied to your name, email or account, because there are none.

Category votes and feedback

Votes and written feedback are stored in Cloudflare D1, independently of analytics. A vote includes the chosen category and a random device id, which lets you change your vote. Suggestions and feedback include the text you send, the page, game mode and category, device class, entry point and whether you finished a run. URL query strings and fragments are removed. You do not need an account or email address.

Written feedback is retained for 180 days after submission; votes are retained for 180 days after their last update. Only our internal tools can read feedback. The random device id helps us prevent duplicate submissions and limit spam; it is not your name or an advertising identifier.

Shared result cards

Saving an image uses your browser and does not publish a card to our server. Creating a result share link stores an immutable snapshot of the category, puzzle, round scores, guesses and rendering version in D1, plus the PNG in Cloudflare R2. The snapshot contains no device id, nickname or feedback text. Anyone with the link can view it; shared result pages are marked noindex.

Result links expire after 180 days. An hourly cleanup removes expired server records and images. Copies already downloaded or cached by another platform remain outside our control. Your browser may offer a system share sheet or download; we cannot tell whether an image was saved to your photo library or posted.

Analytics

We also use Google Analytics on our production website to measure visits and usage. Google Analytics may store analytics cookies in your browser. In Google Analytics we disable Google Signals and advertising personalization, and remove non-UTM query parameters and fragments from the page URL supplied to Google. Local development and preview hosts do not load this Google tag. Learn more about Google’s use of data from partner sites.

Page views and a few product events (a finished puzzle, a share, a challenge opened) are counted with a self-hosted, cookieless analytics instance that does not build profiles or follow you to other sites. IP addresses are used to derive a country and discarded. Category, vote and sharing events contain only fixed choices and numeric values. We do not send feedback text, category suggestions, device ids, submission ids or nicknames to analytics. Blocking analytics does not prevent votes or feedback from being saved.

Advertising

We use Google AdSense to show ads on sizeitup.games. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.

You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google’s Ads Settings, or opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info. Learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, Google’s consent message asks for your choices before ads use cookies or personal data, and you can change them at any time from the “Privacy and cookie settings” link at the bottom of the page. Shared result pages and challenge boards do not show ads.
