How to play Size It Up

  1. Compare. The black silhouette is the reference. It is at true scale and never changes.
  2. Resize. Slide anywhere on the board — or drag the grip, tap the ruler, pinch, or use the arrow keys — until the white silhouette looks right next to the reference. Zoom out if you need room.
  3. Lock in. The true size is drawn in red over your guess. Within 6% scores 100; twice or half the size scores 45; five times off scores 0.

Meet Size It Up Everyday Objects

You know how a mug feels in your hand and how much room a chair takes up. Put them beside each other, though, and that easy familiarity becomes a question. Size It Up Everyday Objects tests the sizes you recognise through daily use.

Every round is object against object. Size It Up Everyday Objects includes 91 household, office and street objects, from a 1.5 cm microsd card to a 2.74 m table tennis table. Keys, phones and chairs all belong here.

How to play Size It Up Everyday Objects

Size It Up Everyday Objects uses the same controls and scoring as the other categories. Play five Daily rounds, with up to 100 points each.

  1. Read the reference

The black object is your reference. Read its ruler and the named measurement before judging the cream object.

  2. Adjust your guess

Move and resize the cream object until its stated dimension looks right beside the reference. Think in halves and multiples.

  3. Submit and compare

The reveal shows the correct relationship and your score. Size It Up Everyday Objects gives you the measurements after you commit.

03 / One dimension at a time

How Size It Up Everyday Objects measures things

Standing objects usually use height; objects lying across the board use length or width; discs use diameter. Size It Up Everyday Objects always names the axis. Compare that span, even when one object looks much bulkier.

Names can contain a different measurement. A phone’s screen diagonal is not its height. A six-foot-class ladder stands 1.73 m high when opened in this library. The “12-inch” LP format uses a 30.2 cm disc.

Size It Up Everyday Objects measures whole outlines. Bucket and paint-can handles are lowered; suitcase height includes its wheels. Read the version beside the name when your own household item differs.

Everyday sizes you only think you know

The library’s king-size bed length and interior door height both equal 2.03 m. One lies down and the other stands up. Size It Up Everyday Objects makes those different orientations worth noticing.

A 15.6 cm US banknote is longer than our 14.7 cm phone is tall. A screen can feel large because you look at it closely; that feeling is not a ruler.

The bed-and-door match is a learning example below. Size It Up Everyday Objects leaves near-equal pairs out of the game, so a barely visible size difference does not consume a round.

A black door and cream bed turned upright, with matching top and bottom levels and a red line joining their tops.

Everyday object size comparisons

These three examples use current Size It Up Everyday Objects values. Each pair of bars shares one linear scale. They are library examples, independent of today’s puzzle.

For an everyday object size comparison, divide one measured span by the other. Size It Up Everyday Objects uses the named dimensions, including a length compared with a height.

The bed length matches the door height.

Tips for Size It Up Everyday Objects

Keep three anchors in mind: a credit card is 8.56 cm long, A4 paper is 29.7 cm tall, and this door is 2.03 m high. Size It Up Everyday Objects becomes easier when you can picture one known span.

Start with a rough multiple, then refine it. Separate the outline’s area from the axis being scored. In Size It Up Everyday Objects, a wide object can have a modest height.

Use Unlimited to test those anchors across fresh pairs. Size It Up Everyday Objects practice keeps the same pool and measurement rules without a daily cap.

08 / Check the selected version

Where the sizes come from

Size It Up Everyday Objects combines standard formats, published product specifications and nominal sizes. The SD Association specifies a full-size SD card; the US Mint publishes coin dimensions; manufacturers publish furniture and container sizes.

A nominal size is a category name, sometimes rounded or allowing installation clearance. Size It Up Everyday Objects uses the stated physical span: a concrete block leaves room for mortar, while a cooker fits inside its advertised cutout.

The source beside each library entry identifies its basis. Existing furniture entries retain representative values. The five paper scenes explain ideas in Size It Up Everyday Objects; only the data-driven bars claim a measured ratio.

09 / Questions from the field

Questions about Size It Up Everyday Objects

Which dimension does Size It Up Everyday Objects measure?
Read the axis named in the round: length, height, width or diameter. The ruler spans that dimension of the whole object. A phone’s screen diagonal and a bucket’s capacity are different quantities.
Which version of an object appears in Size It Up Everyday Objects?
The text beside the name identifies the version: a US quarter, a 16 mm die or a 240 L bin, for example. Furniture uses the selected representative dimensions; other models can differ.
How is Size It Up Everyday Objects different from Mixed?
Every pair uses familiar everyday objects. Mixed still combines several kinds of things. Adding this category does not add its new objects to the Mixed pool.
Does Size It Up Everyday Objects change every day?
Yes. Five new Daily rounds open at local midnight. Past Games preserves each available date; Unlimited draws fresh pairs whenever you continue.
How many objects are in Size It Up Everyday Objects?
There are 91, ranging from the microsd card to the table tennis table. The complete collection above shows every size, version and measurement axis.
Why does Size It Up Everyday Objects skip matching sizes?
Pairs must differ by at least 1.15 times. The first four Daily rounds stay within 10 times; the fifth may reach 25 times. Unlimited uses the same limits with occasional wider pairs.
