This pre-launch puzzle ran from a ruby-throated hummingbird (9 cm) to a blue whale (27 m). The widest gap was round 2, Blue Whale against Sea Otter, at 21×; the closest call was round 1, Golden Retriever against White-tailed Deer, only 1.9× apart — the kind of round that separates a 90 from a 60.
